Netflix viewers say the ‘best series ever’ is so good they can’t stop rewatching it.
The streaming platform continuously adds to its portfolio of great content, giving viewers an array to watch.
Yet one series in particular is being praised by fans, as well as receiving comparisons to HBO’s Game of Thrones.
One fan says: “Just the best series of all time. That simple. Just watch it. You won’t find a better.”
Another person writes: “One of my favorite series of all time. Love all of the seasons – and it’s NOT one of those shows that you invest all your time in and then are disappointed by the way it finishes – it’s magnificent from beginning to end.”
Somebody else comments: “To me, it beats Game of Thrones hands down…”
“One of the best TV shows to ever be created,” a fourth viewer declares.
The hit series also has an impressive score of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes and 8.5/10 on IMDb.
Critics also share the same enthusiasm.
Emily Ashby wrote for Common Sense Media: “The show is never lacking action, adventure, romance, intrigue, and suspense, making it an extraordinarily enjoyable watch.”
Under the Radar‘s Zach Hollwedel said: “The show never suffers even a single dull moment.”
Emily St. James reviewed for AV Club: “It’s endlessly entertaining, and the world it evokes ends up being one of the most instantly compelling on television.”
The historical action, created and written by Michael Hirst, aired for six seasons and stars an impressive cast including Travis Fimmel, Gustaf Skarsgård, Alexander Ludwig, and Alex Høgh Andersen.
Based on Norse sagas, the brutal series combines mythology, history, and legend to tell the tales of Vikings, gods, and heroes, written in the 13th and 14th centuries.
Its synopsis reads: “This gritty drama charts the exploits of Viking hero Ragnar Lothbrok as he extends the Norse reach by challenging an unfit leader who lacks vision.”
With bloodcurdling battle scenes and a realistic portrayal of Viking culture, raids, and their exploration, it makes for a thrilling watch.
Show creator Hirst believes Vikings is such a compelling story due to its authenticness as there’s real fighting, realistic sets, and little special effects.
He told Sky History: “We use visual effects very sparingly. It’s not Game of Thrones where everything is a visual effect. These characters fight for real. They row boats, they climb cliffs, they get bruised and they bleed. We do things as authentically as we can.”
Although Vikings was a global success, Hirst decided to end the show after six seasons – which is earlier than some fans would have liked.
The show’s creator explained to Collider: “I needed to wrap it up.
“I needed to conclude these last storylines in ways that would be satisfactory and satisfying to an audience. I didn’t want to cheat anyone. I didn’t want to cheat the actors, the characters, or the audience.”

‘Most Controversial’ Movie Ever Made Had X-Rated Scenes So Graphic It Was Banned In Multiple Countries
One of the ‘most controversial’ movies ever made had X-rated scenes so graphic it was banned in multiple countries.
The Indian film, originally released in 2010, faced a ban in its home country at the time of its debut.
Interestingly, 2010 proved to be a significant year for controversial cinema, with A Serbian Film also premiering that year – a movie that continues to provoke debate even today.
Fourteen years later, both films remain topics of discussion.
One viewer says: “Vulgarity for the sake of it. There’s nothing profound about it -just a lot of explicit scenes and unnecessary shock tactics.”
While another adds: “I get that it aims to be bold and experimental, but it feels overly indulgent. The shock value is undeniable, but does it serve a purpose? It’s like watching someone scream for attention rather than trying to communicate a coherent message.”
Critics, too, have similarly shocked reactions.
News18 writes: “This is not a movie. It’s a drug-induced hallucinating trip that you take to someone else’s reality… With the aspirations, frustration, and rap of the protagonist the audience gets a new form of cinema to devour, a far cry from the usual wishy-washy rom-coms.”
While Shreader on Medium claims: “It fearlessly explores provocative themes such as s**, drugs, and existential despair… While these scenes might serve as windows into a hedonistic world, they can be off-putting for more conservative viewers.”
Directed by Qaushiq Mukherjee, widely known as ‘Q,’ the film was envisioned as an abstract black-and-white piece, blending explicit s**ual content with an unconventional narrative.
Unlike the carefully choreographed intimacy scenes often seen in Hollywood, where actors simulate s** and rely on editing for realism, the movie’s director opted for complete authenticity.
Q asserted that the actors engaged in genuine, unsimulated s**ual acts during filming to enhance the story’s realism.
This approach led to significant backlash upon the film’s release, reportedly causing some viewers to walk out of screenings.
The movie, titled Gandu – a slang term translating to ‘a*****e’ – follows the story of a troubled young rapper.
The protagonist, frustrated with his life, resorts to stealing from his mother’s lover to fuel his drug habit while chasing his dreams of music stardom.
It contains multiple graphic scenes, including moments between the protagonist’s mother, played by Kamalika Banerjee, and her lover, Dasbabu (Silajit Majumder), which the lead character witnesses.
The s most controversial sequence features Anubrata Basu and co-star Rii Sen in an explicit scene where Q claims the two had unsimulated s**.
In a discussion at the 2011 Slamdance Festival, the director described the actors as ‘good friends,’ explaining that they embraced the spirit of extreme films like The Idiots.
Apart from its explicit scenes, the movie’s frequent use of profanity added to its controversial reception.
Despite its polarizing content, Gandu has been generally well-received by critics, earning a 68 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, demonstrating its continued relevance in modern cinema discourse.
